As part of our mission, our second priority in environment is enrichment. We enrich the environment to promote learning through the guidance of our curriculum and our many extra programs. More specifically, we enrich the environment by organizing our classrooms into learning centers. Furthermore, we enrich each center each week by adding projects, items, and other learning opportunities that are of interest. Finally, we enrich through our extra programs that we provide. We know that a safe and friendly environment is crucial for learning and development.
At ECK, the classrooms are organized into the following learning centers: dramatic play, art, library, block building, writing, and manipulatives. The learning centers provide opportunities for learning in many different ways and with many different styles. The toys, furniture, and supplies in each classroom are also organized with pictures and word labels to provide a print rich environment to promote literacy. Depending on the ages we have, we may split into two smaller groups for the academic learning portions of our day. Typically all children eat meals together and enjoyed mixed group play after nap time snack.
At ECK, we know that the teachers need to provide a delicate balance between control and freedom to promote the desired sense of security. That's why at ECK, we aim to reach that perfect balance of structure and free choice. The general schedule that the teacher follows provides the structure and guidance that children need, while the flexibility of the schedule allows for child led ideas and initiatives. Each grouping of age and/or ability has a flexible schedule that is catered to the developmental needs of the children in that room.
As part of our mission, our first priority in environment is safety - we are dedicated to keeping our children safe. That's why at ECK we perform a daily health check upon arrival & first diaper change for any bruises, marks & scratches, and look to see how the child is feeling and acting, overall. We know that children not only need to be safe, but they also need to feel safe to fully explore their environment. Equally important to us is that each parent / guardian feels completely at ease to go about his/her day when dropping their most prized possession, their child.
ECK features the latest in security. We have a door that is locked at all times and only accessible through the use of a personal pin number. ECK has a strict pick-up policy. All new individuals picking up, even those listed on the enrollment forms, are required to show ID. Parent MUST notify us that someone else will be picking up. We also have a camera system for our use. We are in a wonderful neighborhood nestled near single family homes.
When in the care of our staff, all children are accompanied, supervised, and in line of sight at all times, with the exception of children that are napping in cribs/pack n plays. They will be physically checked every 15 minutes up to age 2, as well as being on a video monitor.
All of our staff are CPR and First Aid certified and receive a minimum of 24 hours continuing education classes yearly. In addition, they are all Livescan finger printed, have a current TB test showing negative, and up to date on vaccinations. They have all passed Mandated Child Abuse Training State Requirements.
